How often do we meet for therapy?

Is it in person or virtual?

  • We can meet for individual therapy sessions once a week, or bi-weekly.

  • Sessions can be scheduled for 45 minutes, 60 minutes or 90 minutes.

  • We can meet in person and via tele-health. I offer a hybrid option for convenience and to offer flexibility with access to care. I am licensed to counsel clients in Tennessee - for virtual sessions patients must be physically located in Tennessee.

What is somatic therapy?

  • Somatic therapy is helpful when clients do not have access to a verbal narrative to their experience - sometimes talk therapy alone is not enough.

  • Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach focusing on the mind-body connection, helping release unprocessed trauma and stress physically trapped in the body through techniques like breath-work, mindful movement, body awareness, and talk therapy. It addresses how emotional distress manifests physically, aiming to calm the nervous system and promote holistic healing for issues like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.

What is EMDR?

  • EMDR - Eye movement desensitization reprocessing is a technique used to process trauma using bilateral stimulation. EMDR focuses on the brain’s ability to constantly learn, taking past experiences, and updating them with present information. See link below for further description of this powerful modality to process trauma.

What is CBT?

  • CBT, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is a common, structured type of talk therapy that helps people manage problems by identifying and changing negative thinking patterns and unhelpful behaviors, focusing on the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions to improve coping and mental well-being for conditions like depression, anxiety, and more. It's goal-oriented, solution-focused, and teaches practical skills for handling challenging life situations by reframing perspectives and developing healthier responses.

How much does therapy cost? What about insurance?

  • 60 minute therapeutic hour for an individual session fee is $150

  • 90 minute sessions for EMDR/trauma therapy fee is $225

  • As needed and when I have availability, my fee for phone calls or text sessions is $37.50 per 15 minutes.

  • I can provide a super-bill upon request for out-of-network insurance.

  • Please do not hesitate to talk to me about fees if needed. I have 4 spots open with financial flexibility based on your circumstances.

  • Fee may be similar to what your out-of-pocket costs would be if utilizing insurance.

  • FSA and HSA insurance accepted.

  • Payment can be made through credit cards or other secure methods of payment.

What happens if I see you outside of therapy?

  • If we run into each other outside of therapy sessions, I will not approach/acknowledge you unless you choose to approach me. If you do so openly, I will say hello but will not refer to our therapy sessions to protect patient confidentiality.

  • If you choose to introduce me, I welcome that introduction. We will discuss confidentiality in our consulation and initial session and throughout our sessions/treatment.

What type of therapy do you offer?

  • Person Centered (talk therapy), CBT - cognitive behavioral therapy, DBT - dialectical behavioral therapy (a variation of CBT focused on emotional regulation, interpersonal communication, increasing capacity for distress, mindfulness meditation), Somatic (Mind-body connection to process trauma, emotional/physical dis-regulation/panic attacks/depression/anxiety) therapy, EMDR - eye movement desensitization reprocessing for working through trauma and grief/loss/pain that has you stuck, 12 step facilitation for addiction recovery, motivational interviewing to help you tap into why you want to make changes. I will meet you where you are at and we will figure out which modalities support you for best outcomes/progress.
